Well hello!  My name is Mike and I live in Florida.  Enough about me, let me explain why I designed this tarot deck the way I did...  At first, designing a tarot deck was a simple art project for me to sketch some comic-book style artwork and it quickly took on a life of its own.  I'm obsessed with history and when I learned about the Minchiate tarot, I was immediately fascinated.  I bought the Brian Williams Minchiate deck, a Florentine Minchiate deck, and a few standard tarot decks - and being a big fan of Neil Gaiman, I started thinking about people that could personify the figures I was looking at on the cards.  

 

I didn't like the omission of the High Priestess in the Minchiate deck, so I decided to keep her and her feminine energy at the front of the deck and continuing the Minchiate from there.  I also switched the elemental assignments of fire and air with the suits of staffs and swords because I agreed with Brian Williams' rationale for doing so.  Anyway, I hope you enjoy looking at and using the deck as much as I enjoyed making it, and if you have any questions that haven't been answered here, please feel free to reach out to me on Instagram at the link below, or at balatrotarot@gmail.com
